Kentucky has become host to over 1,100 manufacturers in recent years, thanks to its ideal location, business-friendly environment, and its investment in training skilled workers. Omni Architects is proud to support this initiative through our design of workforce training facilities throughout Kentucky. Omni pioneered the design of these unique facilities in 2006, when the Kentucky Community & Technical College System selected us for the new Gateway Center for Advanced Manufacturing in Florence, Kentucky. At that time, we could find very few precedent facilities nationwide, and those that did exist failed to demonstrate the important relationship between the building and the activities occurring within. Since then, Omni has continued to design additional workforce training facilities throughout the region, applying our custom design approach to accommodate the unique needs of each manufacturer within the respective region, while also incorporating flexibility, adaptability, and expandability for the future.
While these buildings house a variety of educational programs and spaces - from workforce training programs to allied health and general education classes, depending upon the campus - they also include features that facilitate a sense of community - lounges that encourage collaboration and interaction between classes or offer a place for quiet study; grab-and-go food options, learning resource centers, bookstores, and welcoming outdoor seating areas.
Omni's designs to ensure that students of Kentucky's community and technical colleges feel welcome, inspired, and part of the campus community.
