The Scott County Board of Education needed a new elementary school for 450 students with state-of-the-art integrated technologies. The design driver: to create a stimulating and friendly school environment responsive to its setting. Working within the parameters of a limited budget and schedule, Omni utilized its trademark team approach, including administrators, teachers, parents, community leaders, and children worked on the design objective.
By using simple but durable materials, and combining classrooms into clusters, costs were kept within budget. The main corridor permits views into an exterior courtyard. The floor plan is configured around a main street corridor. which serves as major circulation from the entrance through the length of the school. Daylight and sunshine fill all areas of the school while special fixtures provide both direct and indirect artificial lighting.
